MacArthur in Korea
US General Douglas MacArthur, head of the UN Command (UNC), was in favor of expanding the war to China. President Truman wasn't willing to take the risk, and subsequently dismissed MacArthur.
Truman's action was unfortunate for the South Koreans seeking unification.

MacArthur was dismissed on April 11, 1951. Peace talks began in less than three months.
